Two problems we built Owlmark to fix
Many AI detectors have two problems:
- The same text gets a different score each time, or in each tool.
- A text that a person wrote gets flagged as AI.
Many detectors also flag formal writing and writing by people who use English as a second language. How often a detector wrongly flags human writing depends on how it was trained.
Owlmark was built to fix both problems, and we keep working on it.

Who checks texts with Owlmark
People check texts for different reasons:
- Students check coursework, reports and applications before handing them in.
- Teachers and professors ask whether a student wrote a text, or AI did.
- Clients check a text they paid a writer or an agency for.
- Employers and HR look at a résumé or a cover letter that seems too generic.
- SEO and content teams test articles before they publish them.
- Writers and authors check their own text before sending it to a client or an editor.
